Demo and then some....

Okay its been a few days and so much has happened!

My dear mother in law Donna came over to help me knock out a wall between my kitchen and living area as well as "the pantry". It was so much fun!!! I could really do that for a living I think, it really gets the aggression out!
After much dust and debris we scrubbed the house down and ended up with this:

That's just the one wall...... Now the pantry....

Now I will explain my vision for the said "pantry". What I have done is connected to a very large closet on the other side of the wall. I will split said closet into two and the result will be a pantry for the kitchen and a closet for the bathroom. I love reinventing things!

Now I am taking charge of this pantry, even though a few people are not in my corner. I will conquer this, and will learn as I go. So as you see it nothing, just a hole.

Day one:

I spent cleaning, and self teaching myself how to frame the spot out. It cant be that hard, and it wasn't just tiring. Lots of cutting and just general body labor. Hre are some pics of the framing job:

Today I finished it all but the doors:

Just needs a second coat of paint! Not bad if I say so myself. Tomorrow I will work on the doors, just waiting for some hardware to arrive.

My Mission..

I have been envisioning my dream kitchen for years, 8 years to be exact. Those dreams have included granite counter tops, viking ranges, stainless everything and then some.

Now my home is a simple one story in a great little neighborhood nothing pretentious or over the top. As the years have strolled by and my ever growing kitchen magazine collection has grown nothing happened. Well not nothing, new appliances and new flooring were added over time and for Christmas gifts. But the function and creative kitchen that I yearned for never came forth. Which I must say is a good thing because the kitchen I was dreaming of was not one that was a reality or really me.

What I have discovered is that a kitchen not need to be expensive to be wonderful and functional. That you do not need to have granite counter tops to whip up a masterpiece meal, but you do need function and happiness in your space. And of course lots of love too!

So I have dedicated this blog to show you my progress in creating the space of my dreams and to do it as cheap as possible! And I mean as free as it gets!!! This will not be a renovations under 10,000 but more like a goal of under 1,000. Yes that's right and that's my top number if I can.....
So how am I going to achieve this you ask? well lots of manual labor (I love to get dirty), bartering, and a green attitude of nothing goes to waste. I will try and reuse whatever I can and make simple adjustments. I am inviting you to come along on this journey and hopefully gain inspiration that you don't have to spend alot to make things happen that you love!

Her are some pics of my before:
